Such a Good Daddy!

Matthew 7:7-12 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

I heard a story about a single mom who had very young children and was out of milk to give them. She didn't have a way to go to the store and she really didn't have the money to buy the milk in that moment anyway. All she could do is rely on God for her needs. A few hours later a man rang her doorbell and handed her a gallon of milk. He said he was driving by and felt like God told him to buy milk and deliver it to that house. Of course the woman burst into tears because she knew God had heard her and answered her.

The scripture is saying that God is a better Father than any earthly father, He knows what you need and is the ultimate provider of those things.

Just a couple weeks ago I was going through a difficult time. I felt like there was just one bad thing after another. I could go into detail about those things but I'd keep you reading for far too long! Needless to say, I was upset with God. Shocking, I know, but I have a real relationship with Him and I told Him I was upset. I talked to God about my frustrations and how I felt that He had left me; though I know He promises never to leave me I still "felt" that way. Just a couple days ago I was thinking about the story I mentioned and I told God, "how come that can't happen to me? I'd like someone to show up at my doorstep and say that You told them to give me XYZ for my needs." I didn't demand anything from Him I just simply asked during one of our casual conversations.

Well tonight I gave the girls a bath and before they went to bed I started picking out their clothes for the next day. They would be going to child care at church so I was getting a head start on their things. I picked out Sophia's clothes and thought "man she only has one pair of shoes that fit her and they don't really go with everything. I need to buy her some shoes sometime." Then I moved to Jedidiah's room and though she has a couple pairs of shoes that fit they're kind of old and worn. I pretty much had the same thought about her shoes. Moving on to Aaliyah...she doesn't wear shoes right now; but she barely has any clothes that fit her now. Although Jedidiah and Sophia passed down their clothes it really doesn't help that much considering that Aaliyah is in a different season than they were at her age. So their winter clothes really aren't appropriate in this weather.

I put the big girls down for the night and I was giving Aaliyah a bath when someone knocked on the door. Danny opened and the only thing that was there were two large gift bags! No name at all, we don't know who it was from. I started opening the bags and oh my gosh! I wanted to cry. I knew that God heard me just an hour ago but I didn't think He'd answer that quick! You guessed it...the bags had about 3 pairs of shoes for each of the girls, hair bows and 3-4 outfits for each girl! The crazy thing is that they were brand new, tags still attached and all! I can't stop thinking about how Good my Daddy is to me, that He answers when I call. He knows what I need and He is quick to provide!

Matthew 6:25-34 says:
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

I love that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He still works miracles for those who believe. I'm in awe of Him everyday, and I love how He reminds me of our conversations and reassures me that He'll take care of me. I encourage you to ask the Father to provide your needs, and once you've asked just sit back, wait and trust in Him. He's a good Daddy and the best Daddy that anyone could ever imagine. He will always take care of His children.

And by the way, if you're reading this and it was you who were responsible for those items...THANK YOU!!!!!! It takes a big step of faith to be obedient to what you hear God tell you to do. So thank you for your obedience and sensitive spirit to be able to hear the Lord. Thank you thank you thank you!
